College of William & Mary - Williamsburg, VA
This school was much nicer than I expected. Only Duke had a nicer campus, and this one came very close. The area is great with Colonial Williamsburg on one side and Busch Gardens on the other. The nicest surrounding area of all the places we saw. Very picturesque and safe. The college was very impressive with an artsy streak running through it. Another small school with about 5000 total undergrads. Not nearly as sports nutty as Duke and UNC. But still a strong sense of community. This university is Dad's first choice of the five we saw this trip (if that means anything).

Duke University - Durham, NC
We loved Duke!! It was hands down the nicest campus and the presentations were really well done. Its not that big, either. Freshman class is about 1800 students. You can tell this school is a notch above the others we went to. The tour guide was a little nerdy, but in a self-confident kind of way. He had a way of bringing every conversation back to the school's food. He used over the top adjectives to describe the food, like "glorious". And proudly proclaimed that the popcorn in the Duke movie theater was "of very high quality". Thank God, I was afraid I'd be sending my daughters to one of those "generic brand popcorn" schools....

University of South Carolina - Chapel Hill, NC
This was a really big school. 17,500 students. The campus was very big and diverse. Lots of trees. It was very pretty but definitely felt different than Wake Forest or even UVA. Sports played a big role here. Maybe too big. I didn't get the sense that the student population was as bright as UVA or Wake Forest. Its heavily slanted toward North Carolina residents with only 18% of the student body coming from outside NC.

These pics don't do the campus justice. It was full of green lawns and big old trees.

We liked Wake Forest. It had the most self-contained campus. You definitely knew when you were on college grounds. It was the most manicured campus. Reminded me of Bentley, but bigger and richer. But not nuch bigger. Only about 5000 undergraduate students. This was a smaller college and you elt that. It seemed to promote school spirit and community involvement. Chelsea thought it was snooty. Erika and I didn't think so.

UVA was our first school. Erika is on the fence about it. Not that she didn't like it, but it was the first school she saw, so she's reserving judgement. She liked the fact that there was a focus on Spanish language programs and sports. Chelsea thought it was beautiful but looked a little small town boring.
